Our Program

Every day, veterans return from their service only to fight a new war within. We meet them at that crossroad with treatment designed to help heroes heal the invisible wounds of war that affect their mind, body and spirit.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Science-backed therapy for restoring brain function for TBIs and PTSD

HBOT is a non-invasive treatment that delivers 100% medical-grade oxygen in a pressurized chamber. Our veterans receive 40 HBOT “dives” during the course of their treatment. The increased amount of oxygen that goes into their bloodstream allows for it to reach damaged tissue – especially the brain – more effectively. We believe it’s one of the most effective treatments available for veterans diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic-stress disorder (PTSD).

What are the Benefits of HBOT?

Promotes brain healing and neurogenesis

Reduces inflammation and brain fog

Improves mood and energy levels

Supports emotional regulation and sleep

Lowers symptoms of PTSD and depression

Symptom Improvement

100% improved in at least one symptom area, with many showing progress across multiple domains.

Suicidal Thoughts

Prior to HBOT, 70% of veterans identified having suicidal thoughts. After HBOT, the percentage dropped to 25.6%.

Fatigue

Prior to HBOT, 82% of veterans experienced severe fatigue (levels 4 or 5). After treatment, only 20.8% reported severe fatigue.

Feelings of Isolation

Prior to HBOT, 75.5% of veterans rated their feelings of isolation as severe (levels 4 or 5). After treatment, only 17% reported such severe levels. Additionally, the percentage of veterans reporting little to no isolation (rated 1 or 2) increased from 10.4% to 60.4%.

Family/Relationships

Before treatment, 68% of veterans rated their family/relationship problems as severe (levels 4 or 5). After HBOT, only 15.2% of veterans reported severe issues. The percent of veterans reporting little to no problems (rated 1 or 2) increased from 10.3% to 63.8%.

Depression

Severe depression (levels 4 or 5) affected 73.5% of veterans before HBOT. After treatment, only 17% of veterans still rated their depression as severe, while the percentage experiencing little to no depression (rated 1 or 2) rose from 12.3% to 63.2%.

Anxiety

Before HBOT, 84% of veterans rated their anxiety at levels 4 or 5. After treatment, only 17.1% reported anxiety at those levels, with 53.3% rating their anxiety as mild or none (rated 1 or 2), compared to just 8.5% before treatment.

PTSD Symptoms

Before HBOT, 84.9% of veterans rated their PTSD symptoms at severe levels (4 or 5). After treatment, only 17% still reported severe PTSD symptoms, and 59.4% reported mild to no symptoms (rated 1 or 2), compared to just 5.7% before HBOT.

Headaches

Severe headaches affected 72.7% of veterans before HBOT. After treatment, only 18.1% still reported severe headaches, and the number of veterans with no headaches (rated 1) increased from 16% to 70.4%.

SPECT Brain Imagery

Seeing what others missed so we can help heal what others don’t

SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography) brain scans are a game-changing tool in our mission to reduce veteran suicide. For many veterans, traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, and chronic mood disorders are misdiagnosed – or never diagnosed at all. That leads to years of frustration, ineffective treatments and a dangerous sense of hopelessness. SPECT imaging helps change that. Veterans receive a SPECT scan upon their arrival, and again at their departure.

Before and After SPECT Scan

After 40 one-hour HBOT treatments

Pictured is a SPECT scan of a veteran who participated in The 22 Project program. The left picture illustrates severe damage to this veteran’s frontal and temporal lobes, shown by black and blue areas. After HBOT treatment, his frontal and temporal lobes had a significant reduction of black and blue areas.

Why do SPECT Scans Matter?

Many veterans experience persistent depression or anxiety, difficulty focusing, emotional numbness or outbursts, and/or suicidal thoughts that don’t respond to talk therapy or medication. These symptoms can often be traced back to undetected brain injuries or trauma-related dysfunction. A SPECT scan can help show us the neurological “why”, and tracks the improvement of their treatment.

SPECT Scan Consultations

We provide our veterans with SPECT scan consultations to review their scans and gain an understanding of the condition of their brain. These consultations are also offered to spouses and family members, if desired, to better educate and equip the families. We also provide the veterans with a comprehensive, individualized “brain health” packet based off of the work of Dr. Daniel Amen – it gives them additional strategies for helping to improve their brain health while going through treatment.

Supplemental Therapies

Because healing happens in more places than a clinic

We combine a range of evidence-informed therapies during the term of treatment. Our goal is for these therapies and activities to help regulate their nervous system, promote detox, and support optimum well-being. These initiatives aren’t just add-ons, they are vital parts in our suicide prevention strategy.

The vital role of brotherhood

Community has the power to break isolation. We recognize that healthy camaraderie is a powerful part of the healing journey for veterans. That’s why we bring veterans down for treatment in cohorts that offer a range of recreational experiences. These shared moments help build trust, friendship, and a sense of normalcy during a time of deep restoration.

Fellowship

Addressing the effects of moral injury

For many, healing means returning to a sense of purpose and connection. We offer group sessions that build community and create space for reflection and spiritual growth – like our Camp Snow meetings, Friday morning fellowship meetings, beach sunrise prayer sessions and spiritual mentorship.

The 22 Project Approach

We believe combining a spiritual component for moral repair is important to enhance the progress our veterans make while going through their treatment. These offerings are optional for those who are curious in accelerating their healing journey beyond just the physical.

Travel Accommodations and Case Management

The logistics that make healing possible

Access to life-saving care means nothing if a veteran can’t get there, can’t afford to stay, or doesn’t know where to start. When a veteran reaches out for help, they shouldn’t be met with a to-do list – they should be met with action. Most of the veterans we serve are navigating trauma, financial stress, and physical and emotional exhaustion. That’s why we handle the details, so they can focus on healing.

Preparing for Treatment

In preparation for treatment, our veteran alumni serve as a “battle buddy” for incoming veterans. Their battle buddy will help prepare each veteran for their trip and will help them know what to expect with the program and their treatments.

Case Management

Our case management team is the backbone to our program. More than coordinators, they are advocates, listeners and trusted allies who ensure no one falls through the cracks. For many veterans, the connection with a dedicated case manager is the first time someone has truly stayed with them, fought for them, and believed in their full recovery.
